Cycle Counts

Every year, the Cycling Action Group conducts cycle counts.  These generally take place in September in the morning peak period.  The results may be summarised as follows:

The recent counts showed a small increase in the number of adult cyclists and primary schoolchildren but a drop in the number of secondary school pupils cycling to school.
Over the years, the counts have generally shown a significant increase after a major improvement in the cycling infrastructure, such as:
  • The cycle route along Dorking Road
  • The Longmead Road cycle path
  • The Pound Lane cycle track and toucan crossing of Hook Road
  • The installation of additional cycle parking stands at Epsom station.
